Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated toxicologist to support discovery-stage programs across therapeutic areas within preclinical safety. As part of the Investigative Toxicology and Pathology group, you will design and execute a safety assessment strategy to support pipeline advancement, leveraging in silico, in vitro, and in vivo tools to drive program progress.

Qualifications

• Experience directing the use of, and interpreting data from, in vitro safety studies.
• Demonstrated ability to function independently, generating original research or development strategies.
• Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of the scientific discipline.
• Strong written and oral communication of scientific research.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute a safety strategy for discovery-stage programs using in silico, in vitro, and in vivo tools.
• Develop and deploy in vitro tools for safety assessment and use appropriate endpoints to support decisions.
• Identify and resolve project hurdles using available information and resources.
• Communicate across cross-functional teams and leadership to align on program strategy.
• Incorporate current literature into safety assessment strategies and projects.
• Pursue project-relevant exploration and experiments to support data-driven decisions.
• Mentor or supervise team members and evaluate performance where applicable.
• Collaborate with other teams to identify areas for scientific advancement and efficiency.
