We are looking for an amazing Technical Artist with game development experience to help us create and bring our art to life for our collectible card game. In this totally remote role, you’ll be responsible for making our cards pop! Creating shaders that bring magic to the art and make our VFX scream! In addition to transforming our visuals, you’ll be responsible for mentoring the art team on best practices and setting the standards to follow.

Responsibilities
  1. Create shaders that enhance and optimize our 2D, 3D, and visual effect assets in Unity for PC and Mobile
  2. Create optimal solutions for complex visual challenges
  3. Contribute to the creation and optimization of 2D, 3D, and VFX to improve the visual quality and performance of in-game elements on PC & Mobile
  4. Identify and write tools to help streamline asset creation
  5. Set standards for optimal asset creation and make tools that automate formatting to ensure adherence
  6. Identify opportunities for organizational, documentation, and workflow improvements in collaboration with the 2D, 3D, VFX, Design, and Engineering teams
  7. Mentor the team to ensure art is technically compliant and performant
Required Qualifications
  1. 8+ years of experience building shaders and experiences in Unity, across multiple platforms (mobile, web, PC, consoles) or equivalent transferable experience
  2. 5+ years of experience delivering updates and new features to a userbase on a regular cadence or equivalent transferable experience with Unity
  3. Professional skills in Adobe Suite, especially Photoshop
  4. Advanced knowledge and experience in Unity
  5. Experience using Amplify Shader
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  1. A keen eye for visual coherence, with the ability to adapt to several art styles
  2. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  3. Experience on PC and mobile
  4. Effective communication skills, able to translate technical requirements across different departments, as well as demonstrate empathy for non-technical team members and foster team collaboration

  • In compliance with US law, we disclose compensation for this role. The range listed is just one component of Koin’s total compensation package, which may include bonuses and other awards. The disclosed range is not adjusted for geographic differentials.
  • We offer competitive pay based on market standards plus a significant bonus structure. The base salary ranges from $100,000 to $144,000, depending on skills and experience. Compensation is based on experience, skillset, and internal equity.
  • This role is full-time, exempt, and fully remote.
  • Working core hours on Pacific time is required.
  • Global non-US candidates will be considered only on a contract basis.
