Job summary

Micron Technology is seeking a Principal Systems Performance Engineer to lead complex performance studies in data center systems and memory/storage products. You will drive the hardest investigations, set technical direction, and guide SSD architecture and product development.

This is a hands-on senior individual-contributor role focused on delivering measurable performance improvements. You will deploy workloads across AI, databases, virtualization, and software-defined storage, develop

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in leading complex systems performance or workload studies.
Hands-on experience deploying and debugging data center applications on Linux systems.

Responsibilities

Lead application performance studies on enterprise servers, GPU-accelerated systems, and data center storage platforms.
Deploy customer-representative workloads across AI training, databases, virtualization, and software-defined storage.
Develop test plans with hypotheses, configurations, controls, and repeatable methods.
Instrument systems and trace I/O from application through software and storage to SSD; measure throughput, latency, scaling, and power.
Identify bottlenecks and recommend software, system, or product changes based on data.
Build automation, test harnesses, and analysis tools to improve coverage and turnaround time.
Translate findings into architecture recommendations, roadmaps, and engineering reports.
Mentor engineers and set technical direction for performance work.
