Qualifications

  • Experience in systems engineering activities: concept/workflow development, interface analysis, requirements development and management.
  • Experience as Product Owner on an Agile software development effort.
  • Ability to work on-site in Manhattan Beach, CA.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional and timeline analysis, requirements maturation, interface definition, detailed trade studies, to translate customer requirements into software specifications.
  • Develop engineering artifacts, drawings, documentation and support generation of reports and CDRLs related updates.
  • Develop User Stories and Acceptance Criteria for the mission planning products.
  • Work closely with software development team to implement new capabilities and ensure requirements are met.
  • Support iterative development of UI/UX concepts and designs with customer feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering processes and standards and contribute to technical problem-solving efforts to mitigate risks and resolve issues.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • May include travel to other locations.

Job Overview

The candidate will support Agile development of MS Windows and cloud-based solutions as a Product Owner and Systems Engineer, performing engineering analysis to define internal and external interfaces, data and user workflows, system architecture and design for new capabilities, as part of the Mission Planning and Decision Support Operating Unit (OU).

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities include: Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements maturation, interface definition, detailed trade studies, to translate customer requirements into software specifications Develop and maintain engineering artifacts, drawings, documentation and support generation of reports and CDRLs related updates. Develop User Stories and Acceptance Criteria for the mission planning products Work closely with software development team to implement new capabilities and ensure requirements are met Support iterative development of UI/UX concepts and designs with customer feedback Ensure compliance with engineering processes and standards and contribute to technical problem-solving efforts to mitigate risks and resolve issues Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints May include travel to other locations.

Basic Qualifications
  • BS or higher degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics from an ABET accredited university and 5 years of experience OR 3 years experience with a master’s degree in a related discipline
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance investigated within the last 2 years
  • 2+ years experience in one or more of the following Systems Engineering activities: operational concept/workflow development, leadership role in interface analysis, requirements development and management, primary author on engineering reports and documentation, leadership role in milestones, design reviews
  • 2+ years experience applying knowledge of electromagnetic theory, RF propagation, signals processing, e.g., designing, developing, integrating, and/or testing role
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Experience with system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
  • Experience as a Systems Engineer on an Agile software development effort
  • Experience as a Product Owner
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently and work in a self-directed manner
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance
  • Ability to work on-site in Manhattan Beach (CA)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using or developing military aircraft mission planning systems
  • Experience with risk and opportunity management
  • General understanding of networks, interoperability, and “system of systems” concepts
  • Experience with voice, military and network waveforms
  • Experience with mathematical algorithm development, MATLAB, modeling/simulation
  • Experience with UI/UX development
  • Experience with MBSE Tools
  • Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, .Net, Java, C, and C#
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (such as, Security+)
Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business. However, this timeline may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
