Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Woburn, MA seeks a Principal Systems Engineer for the Radar Performance and Analysis Team. Onsite role with DoD clearance preferred, focusing on radar data analysis, algorithm performance, and system validation.

You will lead V&V activities, develop scripts in MATLAB and Python, and present findings to program leadership and military stakeholders. An advanced degree is preferred and DoD experience valued.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience; STEM degree required.
• Experience in test methods, data analysis, scripting, or software dev.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, Perl, C/C++, Unix/Linux.
• Radar systems engineering or defense performance analysis knowledge.
• Experience with IBM DOORS for requirements tracking.
• Strong troubleshooting and clear communication skills.
• PhD or MS in Engineering/Math/Physics preferred.
• DoD security clearance preferred.

Position

Principal Systems Engineer – Radar Performance and Analysis Team

Location

Woburn, Massachusetts (Onsite).

Security Clearance

U.S. citizenship required. Active, transferable DoD Secret clearance required prior to start date.

Salary

$107,500 – $204,500 per year.

Responsibilities

• Parse, process, and analyze raw sensor data, tracks, and detections to evaluate algorithm performance, target discrimination, and tracking accuracy.
• Conduct scenario‑based analysis to identify and resolve technical observations.
• Perform system performance assessments and validation testing to ensure compliance with requirements and specifications.
• Lead system‑level requirements analysis, decomposition, and traceability, managing the full verification and validation (V&V) lifecycle.
• Establish, monitor, and report on KPMs and TPMs, proactively identifying performance trends, variances, and system risks.
• Develop and maintain robust MATLAB and Python scripts to automate large‑scale data ingestion, statistical modeling, and performance report generation.
• Translate complex data findings into clear technical presentations, dashboards, and documentation for program leadership and military stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience; STEM degree required.
• Experience in test methodology, data analysis, scripting, and/or software development.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, Perl, C/C++, Unix/Linux.
• Knowledge of radar systems engineering, signal processing analysis, or performance assessment within a defense framework.
• Experience with system engineering tools such as IBM DOORS for requirements tracking.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving complex anomalies in large‑scale tactical data feeds.
• Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in an Agile Scrum environment and in fast‑paced, time‑critical settings.
• Ph.D. or Master’s in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline preferred.
• Existing DoD security clearance preferred.
