Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Principal Systems Engineer for Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) in Roy, Utah.

The role focuses on hypersonic re-entry and trajectory analysis to support testing, development, and analysis of advanced payloads within the Strategic Deterrent Systems Flight Systems Futures organization.

Applicants must hold a STEM degree with senior experience, U.S. citizenship, and a current Secret clearance, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with related experience.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with active Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain SAP approval within time.
• Experience with modeling, simulation, and analysis of Aerospace Vehicles.
• Experience generating 6-DoF trajectories for hypersonic platforms.
• Experience with trajectory analysis for boost phase ascent.
• Demonstrated data analysis and visualization skills.
• Programming in C++, MATLAB, Python, or Fortran and Git usage.

Job Summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Principal Systems Engineer for Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) in Roy, Utah.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will work for the Strategic Deterrent Systems Flight Systems Futures organization, focusing on hypersonic re‑entry and advanced payloads. The role will involve trajectory analysis and generation for hypersonic systems to support test, development, and analysis.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum 5 years of related experience; 3 years with a Master's; or 1 year with a PhD.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance at the time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
• Experience with modeling, simulation, and analysis of Aerospace Vehicles, including hypersonic platforms.
• Experience generating 6-DoF trajectories for hypersonic platforms.
• Experience with trajectory analysis for boost phase ascent.
• Demonstrated history of analysis and visualization of data.
• Programming experience with C++, MATLAB, Python, or Fortran.
• Experience using Git for version control.
• Excellent technical writing skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance at the time of application, current and within scope.
• Proficiency with C++, MATLAB, and Python.
• Experience using TAOS to model trajectories.
• Experience using AFSIM for mission‑level simulations.
• Experience using STK for red/blue modeling.

Work Schedule

Standard schedule is 9/80. Employees work nine‑hour days Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off.

Compensation

Primary level salary range: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off.
