Job summary

Raytheon Technologies seeks a Principal Systems Engineer to lead technical simulation operations for the Flight Mission Simulator (FMS) used in Patriot test programs. You will drive integration, testing, data analysis, and issue resolution in a collaborative lab environment with multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires strong system integration, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills, plus hands-on experience with HIL simulations and RF test equipment.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with systems software, systems hardware, systems requirements, systems integration, and/or systems testing.
  • Experience working in a test facility, integration lab, depot, and/or field environment.
  • Experience developing or troubleshooting simulations, including evaluating Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical simulation operations and maintenance support for Flight Mission Simulator (FMS) issues and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve simulation hardware issues to maintain mission-capable performance for Patriot programs.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise to Patriot lab personnel and White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) teams.
  • Lead onsite activities including integration and test preparation, test execution, data analysis, and issue resolution for other Hardware-in-the-Loop assets.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for root-cause identification and resolution of system anomalies, system performance assessments, and cross-functional engineering coordination to support overall system capability development and checkout.
  • Collaborate with team members across multiple engineering disciplines, including Hardware, Software, Mechanical, and Systems Integration and Test.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying hardware issues, troubleshooting effectively, and clearly documenting all actions and steps taken.
  • Mentor and support the technical growth of peers and junior engineers, identifying opportunities to enhance team technical acumen.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Work onsite at our RTX facility in Andover, MA. Occasional second‑shift hours may be required to support testing.
  • Travel up to 10% domestically.

The Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities team is seeking a highly motivated Principal Systems Engineer to lead technical simulation operations and maintenance support for the Flight Mission Simulator (FMS) used in Patriot test programs. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in system integration and testing. What You Will Do

  • Proficiency in developing and executing models to predict system performance and support verification and validation.
  • Experience with RF test lab equipment (spectrum analyzers, multimeters, power meters, oscilloscopes) and with programming tools such as MATLAB, ADA, Python, C/C++, and Java.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
