Job summary

VTG is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support our customer. You will apply systems engineering principles to manage Windows NT/2000 and HP UX environments, install server software upgrades, monitor networks, and configure firewalls.

The role requires a BA/BS in a technical discipline, a Secret clearance (Top Secret eligible), and willingness to travel 75% or more. The starting pay range is $102,377 to $169,898 annually, with offers based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Applies a comprehensive set of systems engineering principles and disciplines supporting Windows NT 4.0 / 2000 and HP UX 11.0 administration and network support.
• Installs and configures the servers and client software upgrades, as well as provide network monitoring and firewall configuration.
• Provides engineering support, tests, administers, and troubleshoots mail server.
• Develops engineering assessments of different configurations, including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept and to user standards, and for progress in accordance with schedules.
• Coordinates with the Project and/or Program Manager to ensure problem solution and user satisfaction.
• Makes recommendations, if needed, for approval of major systems installations.
• Prepares milestone status reports and deliveries/presentations on the system concept to colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives.

VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $102,377-$169,898 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
