Job summary

VT Group (VTG) is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support our customer. The role focuses on applying systems engineering disciplines to Windows NT 4.0/2000 and HP UX 11.0 environments, with server and firewall configuration, and mail server support.

The candidate should hold a BA/BS in a technical field with at least 10 years of experience, possess a Secret clearance (Top Secret eligibility), and be willing to travel 75% or more. Starting pay ranges are provided as guidance.

Responsibilities

• Apply systems engineering principles to Windows/HP UX administration and network support.
• Install and configure servers and client software upgrades; monitor network and firewall.
• Provide engineering support, test, administer, and troubleshoot mail server.
• Develop assessments of configurations and review work products for correctness and progress against schedules.
• Coordinate with the Project/Program Manager to ensure problem resolution and user satisfaction.
• Make recommendations for major systems installations.
• Prepare milestone status reports and present system concepts to stakeholders.

Overview

VTG is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support our customer.

What will you do?

• Applies a comprehensive set of systems engineering principles and disciplines supporting Windows NT 4.0 / 2000 and HP UX 11.0 administration and network support.
• Installs and configures the servers and client software upgrades, as well as provide network monitoring and firewall configuration.
• Provides engineering support, tests, administers, and troubleshoots mail server.
• Develops engineering assessments of different configurations. including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept and to user standards, and for progress in accordance with schedules.
• Coordinates with the Project and/or Program Manager to ensure problem solution and user satisfaction.
• Makes recommendations, if needed, for approval of major systems installations.
• Prepares milestone status reports and deliveries/presentations on the system concept to colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives.

VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $102,377-$169,898 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
