Job summary

Echodyne, a leader in compact solid-state radar technology, seeks a Principal Systems Architect to design architectures spanning hardware, firmware, and software. You will drive performance budgets and subsystem definitions for field-ready radar products used globally.

Responsibilities include translating use-cases into requirements, leading interdisciplinary teams, and guiding verification and roadmap decisions with product and manufacturing partners.

Qualifications

  • BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or similar.
  • 10+ years' experience developing complex embedded/electronic systems from concept through verification and production readiness.
  • Experience leading systems engineering for products spanning RF/mixed-signal electronics, embedded firmware/OS, and application software.
  • Analytical skills applicable to system modeling, trade studies, and data-driven debugging.
  • Experience with common engineering tooling such as Python/MATLAB and systems debugging at HW/SW boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Translate product/customer use cases into measurable system requirements and performance budgets.
  • Define and maintain radar system architecture across hardware, firmware, algorithms, and product interfaces.
  • Lead system decomposition into subsystems to define subsystem requirements.
  • Utilize system budgets to effectively manage tradeoffs among competing requirements.
  • Lead system-level performance closure through analytical means such as modeling/simulation and field data interpretation.
  • Enable integration readiness through collaboration with cross-functional HW and SW leads.
  • Establish verification philosophy in partnership with integration/test leadership, including verification strategy, requirement coverage, traceability, and reporting.
  • Serve as a principal technical voice in roadmap and design reviews, teaming with product, manufacturing, and customer support teams.

Echodyne is seeking a Principal Systems Architect, Radar Development to join our fast-growing team.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Principal Systems Architect, you will develop system architectures, performance budgets, and deliver field-ready capabilities that meet customer and product needs. You'll operate at the intersection of radar principles, antenna theory, RF electronics, embedded computing, and power distribution to develop products used across the globe, in a culture built to disrupt markets with revolutionary technology.

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
  • BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or similar
  • 10 or more years' experience developing complex embedded/electronic systems from concept through verification and production readiness
  • Experience leading systems engineering for products spanning RF/mixed-signal electronics, embedded firmware/OS, and application software

Desired Skills / Experience

Looking for one or more as a complement to the core skills

  • Familiarity with radar systems, RF design, or sensing technologies
  • Experience delivering radar products into commercial markets
  • Radar domain knowledge sufficient to lead architecture decisions across waveform/mode considerations and environmental constraints; hands-on experience with FMCW and/or pulse Doppler radar systems preferred
  • Exposure to radar algorithms and technology improvements such as clutter mitigation, interference suppression, calibration, and tracking/state estimation such as Kalman filtering

The expected annual salary range for this role is

$137,196—$246,788 USD
