Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, a RTX company, seeks a Principal Structures Engineer to analyze Externals and Mechanical Systems for advanced aircraft engines. You will lead structural analyses across design, validation, and production, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet durability, performance and weight targets.

The role requires a strong FEA background, proficiency in ANSYS/Workbench, and the ability to communicate results to leadership and customers. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
• 8 years of engineering experience, or an Advanced degree with 5 years of experience.
• Structural engineering background with proficiency in Finite Element Analysis, ANSYS, Workbench, and classical analytical methods.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis of Externals and Mechanical systems hardware through preliminary and detailed design, validation, certification, and support of manufacturing and service.
• Collaborate on multi-discipline product teams to balance durability, performance, cost and weight.
• Use Finite Element Analysis and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
• Document analysis results and present conclusions to leaders and customers.
• Travel is up to 10%.
