Our Opportunity
We are seeking a Principal Engineer for our Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in the Washington, DC metro area or Natick, MA. The role involves leading and expanding our Structural and Architectural Engineering consulting efforts, working as part of a team to lead analytical and computer problem‑solving, conduct experimental field investigations and diagnostic surveys, and develop and maintain client relations. Assignments require gathering information and conveying technical conclusions to engineering, business, and industry stakeholders.
You will be responsible for
- Lead business generation and client development efforts
- Inspection, analysis, and determination of root causes of structural/building envelope performance failures
- Conducting projects and supervising others in analytical and computer problem‑solving
- Leading field investigations and diagnostic surveys
- Preparing and presenting technical reports and complicated engineering assessments
- Continued professional development towards maintaining professional expertise
- Providing expert testimony where appropriate
You will have the following skills and qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field
- Significant business development experience with a proven track record
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) in at least one state
- Ability to attract projects to support full‑time staff and to manage and develop a group of highly motivated individuals
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical engineering and project management post‑graduation
- An outstanding professional reputation with an existing client base
- Experience providing expert testimony in a dispute resolution setting
- Significant experience in construction claims, dispute resolution, and litigation services
- Experience in architectural engineering and building technology is a plus, but not required
- Experience drafting/reviewing analysis, reports, and presentations
- Effective leadership skills with the ability to positively interact with professionals, technical staff, and administrative staff
- Outstanding professional reputation and a record of publications
- Strong client base in similar market areas
- A dedication to quality and accuracy
Compensation
Base salary range is determined by experience and capabilities, to be assessed during the interview process. Total compensation for this position includes base salary and an annual bonus. At the Manager level and above, compensation also includes a 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
Salary Range
USD $181,000.00 – USD $284,000.00 per year.
