Job summary

Worley is seeking a Principal Structural Designer to perform civil/structural design from concept to detailed design for onshore manufacturing projects, based in Baton Rouge, LA. The role requires PDMS/E3D and AutoCAD expertise, with a focus on drawings, 3D modeling, and MT0/weight checks as part of an integrated delivery team.

The candidate will develop 2D drawings and 3D models, coordinate with other disciplines, and ensure safety, constructability, and client requirements are met throughout

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering design and drafting or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience with PDMS/E3D and AutoCAD.
• CADWorx experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and manufacturing practices.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Able to work independently or in a team.
• Able to obtain TWIC and pass background checks.
• Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Prepare civil/structural drawings and 3D models (pipes, platforms, supports) per specs.
• Create structural material take-offs.
• Provide project team technical support.
• Resolve technical issues and propose alternatives for docs.
• Coordinate with structural and other disciplines.
• Incorporate safety, constructability, operability in design.
• Prepare as-built drawings and update designs.
• Work with the Global Integrated Delivery team on 3D modeling and checks.
• Develop 2D drawings for fabrication, incorporating review comments.

Purpose

Perform civil/structural design work from conceptual design to detailed design of onshore manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare civil/structural design 2D drawings and 3D models based on engineering information, site data and customer requirements for: Structural pipe supports, pipe racks, platforms, building and equipment supports, lift arrangements, paving/grading, underground pipe, foundations, etc
• Prepare structural Material Take-offs
• Provide technical support to the project team
• Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, establishes pros/cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations to support official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc
• Coordinate with structural engineering team and gather information from other disciplines, with knowledge of the impact of other disciplines design data on structural design
• Seeks input from knowledgeable sources, considers safety, constructability, operability, and maintainability into design
• Other responsibilities include preparing as-built drawings, design and detailing new components from previous designs
• Work with global integrated delivery team (GID): Create 3D model to Client Specifications; Ensure objects are placed in correct hierarchy; Ensure all attributes are set; Complete Modeling Checklists; Run Clash Check and resolve all clashes before submitting check prints; Run MTO/Weight reports for Structures in an area
• Develop 2D Drawings: Develop all necessary drawings and details to ensure complete fabrication; Complete Checklists; Ensure drawings incorporate all engineering review comments; Ensure drawings incorporate all Client review comments; Ensure all drawing attributes are set

Qualifications

• A diploma in Engineering design and drafting or equivalent
• Strong working knowledge of PDMS/E3D and AutoCAD – Minimum 5 years’ experience
• CADWorx experience is a plus
• Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices for the control, development, and application of deliverables
• Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with other designers and engineers to achieve an optimal drawing product
• Successful candidates will be self-starters with an aptitude for problem solving and innovation and the ability to work independently or as a member of a team. They must be capable of working with a team on a large project
• Ability to obtain and maintain TWIC card and pass background checks
• Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States
