Job description

Build the electronics that power the digital world.

At Schneider Electric, we’re advancing the technologies behind mission‑critical power infrastructure. We’re looking for a Principal Staff, Electronics Hardware Design Engineer to help shape the next generation of 3‑phase UPS and DC power‑conversion platforms used in data centers and other high‑availability applications worldwide.

This is a high‑impact individual contributor leadership role for an accomplished engineer who wants to remain close to the technology while influencing hardware strategy across global R&D teams. You’ll tackle our most complex electronics challenges, guide critical architecture decisions, and turn emerging technologies into safe, reliable and manufacturable products.

What will you do?
  • Shape multi-generation electronics hardware strategy for 3-phase UPS and DC power‑conversion platforms.
  • Serve as a technical authority for control, sensing, protection, gate‑drive, communications and auxiliary‑power electronics.
  • Lead architecture decisions, design reviews and trade‑offs across performance, safety, reliability, EMC, thermal design, cost and lifecycle requirements.
  • Guide the full hardware lifecycle, from requirements and schematic design through PCB implementation, prototype bring‑up, verification, industrialization and field support.
  • Drive engineering rigor through worst‑case, tolerance and stress analysis, DFMEA, design verification and root‑cause investigation.
  • Advance new technologies that improve efficiency, power density, reliability, serviceability and cost competitiveness.
  • Partner with global R&D teams, semiconductor and component suppliers, laboratories and universities to accelerate innovation.
  • Mentor experienced engineers and strengthen technical capability and design reuse across global teams.
What qualifications will make you successful?
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Power Electronics or equivalent expertise gained through significant industry experience.
  • Typically, 15+ years of electronics hardware development experience, with demonstrated technical leadership across complex products or platforms.
  • Deep expertise in analog/mixed‑signal electronics, embedded control hardware, schematic design, component engineering, PCB design and laboratory validation.
  • Experience with high‑power converters, UPS, energy systems, industrial drives or comparable high‑reliability products.
  • Strong knowledge of EMC, product safety, reliability, derating, thermal design and design for manufacturing.
  • Ability to solve highly ambiguous technical problems and influence senior technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred:

Cadence experience; IGBT or SiC gate‑drive expertise; patents, publications or standards participation.
