Job description

Build the Electronics that power the digital world
The opportunity

Do you want to shape the electronics hardware behind the next generation of mission-critical power systems? Schneider Electric is expanding its global R&D capability for 3-phase UPS and DC power conversion. We are looking for a Principal Staff, Electronics Hardware Design engineer who can combine deep, hands-on technical expertise with enterprise-level influence.

In this high-impact individual-contributor role, your decisions will guide hardware platforms deployed in data centers and other critical-power applications worldwide. You will work from early technology exploration through product realization, helping global teams solve their hardest hardware challenges and turn innovation into robust, manufacturable products.

What you will do
  • Shape multi-generation electronics hardware strategy for 3-phase UPS and DC power-conversion platforms.
  • Guide architecture and detailed design of control, sensing, protection, gate-drive, communication and auxiliary-power electronics.
  • Lead critical design reviews, technical trade-offs and root-cause investigations spanning hardware, firmware, systems, electromechanics and verification.
  • Advance design quality through robust analysis, DFMEA, worst-case and stress analysis, design rules, reference designs and reusable engineering assets.
  • Drive innovation with suppliers, universities, laboratories and global R&D teams, creating patents and differentiated technology where appropriate.
  • Mentor engineers and strengthen a global community of electronics-hardware expertise while remaining close to real engineering work.
What will make you successful
  • A Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Power Electronics or equivalent expertise.
  • Typically 15+ years in complex electronics-hardware development, with evidence of impact across multiple products, platforms or organizations.
  • Deep knowledge of analogue, mixed-signal and embedded control hardware, schematic design, component engineering, PCB implementation and laboratory validation.
  • Experience with high-power converters, UPS, energy systems, industrial drives or similarly demanding high-reliability products.
  • Strong command of EMC, safety, reliability, derating, thermal and design-for-manufacture considerations.
  • The credibility to influence senior stakeholders, mentor experienced engineers and make sound decisions amid ambiguity.
  • Fluent professional English. Cadence experience and exposure to IGBT or SiC gate-drive systems are strong advantages.
