Job summary

Optum is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to define and scale reliability across large cloud platforms. This senior role focuses on setting SRE standards, influencing engineering teams, and driving automation and AI-enabled operations.

This remote role offers flexibility with a preference for MN candidates. You will work with Azure environments, implement SLOs/SLIs, observability, and resiliency patterns, while shaping enterprise-scale reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Software Engineering, or Cloud Engineering
• Experience influencing multiple teams or platforms without direct ownership
• Proven hands-on expertise in reliability engineering, cloud environments, and observability

Responsibilities

• Define and drive SRE standards across teams
• Lead implementation of SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets
• Enhance observability (metrics, logs, tracing) and resiliency patterns
• Improve reliability through automation and AI-enabled approaches
• Drive reliability practices in Azure environments
• Apply AIOps for anomaly detection and automation
