Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Specialist in Total Rewards Operations to deliver accurate compensation services, manage complex cases, and own key processes in a hybrid work setting. You will analyze data, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvements across compensation functions within the People Services ecosystem.

You will collaborate with Total Rewards, HR Technology, and other teams to update procedures and employee resources, while supporting annual compensation cycles and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • Experience with Excel, including the ability to analyze and organize data using pivot tables and charts.
  • Experience supporting HR Operations including compensation programs, processes, or analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day operational support for compensation processes, ensuring adherence to established policies and business controls.
  • Manage and resolve compensation‑related cases and inquiries within established service level agreements, including complex or non‑standard issues, applying compensation guidelines and appropriate judgement and escalating when needed.
  • Own and manage assigned compensation operational processes, ensuring effective execution, controls, documentation, and service delivery.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of complex compensation‑related data and process issues, identify trends, root causes, downstream impacts, and opportunities for sustainable solutions.
  • Process, validate, and audit compensation‑related transactions in Workday and other HR systems to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain and analyze compensation operations metrics and reporting to identify trends, service performance, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead or support operational enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline, standardize, automate, and strengthen compensation‑related processes.
  • Support annual compensation cycle activities, including reporting, data consolidation, validation, and system readiness tasks.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to team members on assigned processes, compensation guidelines, and complex operational issues.
  • Collaborate with Total Rewards, HR Technology, and other People Services teams to update documentation, knowledge articles, and employee‑facing resources.
  • Support the operational delivery and ongoing maintenance of employee recognition programs, including transaction processing, data validation, and issue resolution.

The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team:

Within People Services, our mission is to deliver exceptional experiences for employees and provide high-quality centralized service support for HR. Our Total Rewards Operations team supports that mission through the accurate, timely, and consistent delivery of compensation services. We are seeking a customer‑focused, analytical, proactive, and collaborative Principal Specialist to join the team. In this role, you will play a key role in the day‑to‑day delivery of compensation operations, including case management, operational process ownership, data analysis, and continuous improvement. You will apply established compensation guidelines and sound judgement to resolve complex issues, identify opportunities for improvement, and help ensure compensation services are delivered accurately and consistently.

What You Will Do

  • High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, analyze data for trends and root causes, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to interpret policy and process requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate information to employees and HR partners.

Work Location: This is a hybrid role, eligible candidates must reside within commuting distance of Farmington, CT or Cedar Rapids, IA

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
