Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal System Safety Engineer to define and verify system safety requirements for spacecraft programs. You will identify hazards, assess risks, and prepare safety artifacts to support customer requirements.

Responsibilities include coordinating with cross-IPTs, supporting launch range safety documentation, and presenting safety packages for design reviews. A Top Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 4 years of related experience (3 in System Safety) or Master's with 3 years System Safety experience.
• Active Top Secret Clearance required at time of application.
• Experience with MIL-STD-882E to analyze and drive safety into system design.
• Experience developing, reviewing, updating, and approving system safety artifacts (SSPP, PHA, FHA, SHA/SSHA, FTA, SAR, MSPSP).
• Familiarity with AFSPCMAN 91-710 and Range Safety compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• General understanding of spacecraft design and operation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance.

Responsibilities

• Defining, implementing, and verifying System Safety requirements.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate hazards in spacecraft.
• Prepare safety artifacts (SSPP, PHA, FHA, SHA/SSHA, FTA, SAR, MSPSP).
• Coordinate with Cross-IPTs to support safety adjudication.
• Assist in launch range safety documentation per guidelines.
• Prepare materials for design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
