Job summary

Sierra Space is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design, develop, and test software applications for space systems. You will architect complex software, write clean code, and mentor engineers while collaborating across teams to meet mission requirements.

You will use Git-based workflows, participate in code reviews, and stay current with evolving space technologies and software practices. A U.S. Security Clearance is required for this role.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Typically 12+ years of related experience.
• Extensive expertise in multiple programming languages and software development principles.
• Ability to design, architect, implement, and test complex software systems.
• Expert understanding of software engineering processes, advanced algorithmic knowledge, and system scalability.
• Mastery in writing scalable, optimized code and secure coding practices.
• Ability to independently contribute to design and development and conduct unit tests.
• Experience with Agile and Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
