Job summary

HEO Robotics, a US-based space startup, seeks a Principal R&D Solutions Engineer to serve as the primary technical authority for major US Government programs. You will architect and deliver bespoke NRE solutions and drive experimental features to meet USG mission needs.

As the first Solutions Engineer in the USA, you will build and scale domestic engineering capabilities, initially as a high-level IC, while setting technical standards and collaborating with our Australia team for guidance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in space mission analysis, orbital mechanics, or satellite operations for US IC/DoD.
• Experience delivering NRE solutions for complex space-domain challenges.
• Expert Python for data analysis and orbital modeling with STK.
• Strong technical leadership and startup-capable teamwork.
• Active TS clearance preferred; ability to obtain/maintain TS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical POC for major USG projects translating capabilities into mission-ready solutions.
• Lead R&D to Ops pipeline; design plans for NEI data collection and SDA insights; implement Python to operationalize capabilities.
• Model satellite encounters and optimize sensor tasking using STK and Python.
• Research and implement novel data visualization to enhance the HEO Inspect platform.
• Direct expansion of GEO mission frameworks and scaling of LEO operations.
• Rapid MVP development and testing with USG customers.
• Lead evaluation of subcontractors to meet USG contract standards.
