Role Summary
The Product Solutions Engineer Lead / Principal is a senior individual contributor role within the Product Solution Engineering organization responsible for bridging customer business requirements with SEW platform capabilities. This role requires strong client-facing consulting expertise, deep Energy and Utilities domain knowledge, and the ability to translate complex technical and functional concepts into scalable product-driven solutions. The candidate will work closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Delivery teams to design solution architecture, lead discovery workshops, and support strategic customer engagements across global markets.
This role requires approximately 30% travel to support customer workshops, transformation engagements, and strategic solution discussions.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Solution Consulting
- Lead customer-facing discovery sessions and workshops to gather business, functional, and high-level technical requirements.
- Map customer requirements to SEW platform capabilities and recommend scalable solution architectures aligned with product standards.
- Provide consultative guidance based on Energy and Utilities industry best practices across areas such as Digital Customer Experience, Meter-to-Cash, DER, eMobility, and Workforce transformation.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business and technology stakeholders throughout pre-sales, implementation planning, and expansion phases.
- Project management: Leading project timelines through Agile methodologies or other frameworks with precision for successful solution implementation
- Lead technical solution discussions during and post sales cycles, including product demonstrations tailored to customer use cases.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams to influence roadmap priorities based on market and customer insights.
- Design high-level solution architectures integrating SaaS, cloud, and enterprise systems leveraging a platform first strategy.
- Develop reusable solution frameworks, accelerators, and capability mappings.
- Ensure alignment between customer-specific requirements and scalable product functionality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution
- Partner with Sales and Delivery teams to support deal closures and ensure solution readiness.
- Coordinate across architecture, engineering, and implementation teams to ensure solution feasibility and implementation success.
- Support Agile delivery alignment through solution documentation and technical guidance.
- Analyze product usage metrics and customer feedback to recommend enhancements that improve adoption and platform value.
Process Optimization & Innovation
- Drive solution engineering best practices and standardized customer-facing deliverables.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Product Engineering organization.
- Support strategic transformation workshops and executive-level architecture discussions.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in a client-facing Solution Engineering, Consulting, or Architecture role.
- Strong experience gathering business requirements and translating them into product and solution capabilities.
- Proven experience providing industry best practice recommendations within the Energy and Utilities sector.
- Demonstrated experience working with SaaS platforms, cloud architectures, and enterprise integrations.
- Prior experience working with global product organizations or system integrators supporting utilities.
- Strong understanding of digital transformation across utility domains (CIS, CX, Grid, DER, eMobility, or Field Operations) desired but not mandatory.
- Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor while influencing global cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30%.
Preferred Technical Background
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Understanding of enterprise integration patterns and microservices architectures.
- Working knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#.
- Experience with web and mobile platforms and modern digital architecture frameworks.
