Fidelity Investments Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Quality Engineer to lead quality engineering for a multi-year modernization within Stock Plan Services. You will set standards, build automated testing frameworks, and mentor teams to deliver reliable, scalable software.

Strong leadership and collaboration with business and technology partners are essential. You will drive quality metrics, test strategies, and modern testing tool adoption while shaping the technology vision for stock plan

Qualifications

• 12-15 years of experience in software test/Quality Engineering.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a technology related field.
• Experience in Agile development and Jira.
• Deep expertise in functional, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience testing distributed applications across multiple layers.
• Hands-on Test Management lifecycle experience.
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills; complex queries/views/packages.
• Experience with test automation design/development/execution (RestAssured, Playwright, Karate, Cucumber, TestNG).
• Strong Java/Spring Boot programming; JavaScript/TypeScript a plus.
• Knowledge of CI/CD (GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Docker, SonarQube).
• Experience with Azure/AWS cloud technologies and DevOps concepts.

The Role

This position will play a key role in Fidelity's growing Stock Plan Services organization.You will be part of a team of technologists dedicated to building and advancing Automation, Continuous Integration, and Test Data Management ecosystems. This role requires extensive collaboration with stakeholders across business and technology organizations throughout the full project lifecycle. As a Principal Software Quality Engineer, you will lead quality engineering efforts for a multi-year modernization initiative while establishing the standards, frameworks, and best practices that guide the broader Quality Engineering organization. Responsibilities

• Lead Quality Engineering Strategy by defining standards, best practices, and enterprise-wide test automation frameworks.
• Design and Implement Automated Testing Solutions that improve quality, efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.
• Provide Technical Leadership and Mentorship to engineering teams on QE practices, tools, and methodologies.
• Drive Quality Across Modernization Initiatives by ensuring software deliverables are reliable, scalable, and production-ready.
• Collaborate with Business and Technology Stakeholders to translate requirements into test strategies, stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Establish and Track Quality Metrics to measure effectiveness, identify trends, and support data-driven decisions.
• Assess and Mitigate Risks by proactively identifying quality, project, and automation challenges and developing contingency plans.
• Evaluate and Adopt Modern Testing Tools and Practices to continuously improve engineering processes and automation capabilities.
• Lead Complex Projects and Cross-Functional Initiatives by planning schedules, coordinating resources, and ensuring on-time delivery.
• Influence Technology and Quality Strategy through innovation, technical expertise, problem-solving, and partnership with senior leadership.

The Expertise and Skills

• 12-15 years' experience predominantly in software test/ Quality Engineering
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) required.
• Experience in Agile development methodology and Jira tool
• Deep expertise in Functional testing, regression testing and End-to-End testing
• Experience in testing distributed applications at multiple layers of the technology stack
• Hand-on experience in Test Management lifecycle
• Strong working knowledge of Relational Databases like Oracle, DB2 or Postgres and experience with PL/SQL and complex queries, views, packages etc.
• Strong experience in Test automation design, development and execution using frameworks eg. RestAssured, Playwright, Karate, Cucumber, TestNG.
• Strong proven experience in programming - Java/Spring boot. Strong SQL skills are required. Knowledge of JavaScript/Typescript is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of continuous integration and deployment - GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Docker, SonarQube, etc.
• Demonstrated experience with Azure/AWS cloud technologies, DevOps, CI/CD experience.
• Experience in working with Stock Plan Services/ Brokerage is a plus.
• The candidate should have experience in designing test strategy, test automation suites independently for a new product/application.
• Experience in working with Mainframe Technologies - Cobol and JCL is a plus
• Understanding and working experience of Non-functional testing is preferred.

Fidelity's Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
