Job summary

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Software Engineer II for our BMC2 Capabilities group onsite in St. Petersburg, FL. You will work on embedded software across real-time and application domains, participate in all SDLC phases, and contribute to automated testing and modern CI/CD pipelines.

The role requires C++/Python expertise, strong OS and systems knowledge, and a DoD Secret clearance. Collaboration in an Agile SAFe environment is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, systems software design, operating systems, architectures, SDLC and processes.
• Experience with C++, Python and object-oriented software design.
• Hands-on experience developing automated tests for embedded or software systems (unit/integration/system).
• Typically requires a degree in STEM and minimum 8 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with minimum 5 years of experience.
• Active and transferable DoD Secret clearance required; U.S. citizenship required.

The BMC2 Capabilities engineering organization is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our software development team located onsite in St. Petersburg, FL.

Our teams develop software in a variety of languages, primarily C++. Candidates can expect to work on many—if not all—of the phases of the software development life cycle.

In this position, you will be responsible for providing practical solutions to difficult technical software problems. Software Engineering positions include working on a variety of different tasks including real time software development, application software development, test and verification, data analysis, software tools development, and many others. Teams are organized using Agile scrum methodology.

What You Will Do

• Participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of embedded software, including application, middleware, operating system and supporting tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems.

Qualifications You Must Have

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevSecOps and test automation.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with Conan package manager for C++.
• Experience working with large, complex software systems and refactoring legacy code.
• Experience writing software for and debugging issues in real-time multithreaded software applications.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
