BigBear.ai is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and maintain middleware powering authentication, authorization, and critical integrations. You will own middleware reliability and security across enterprise systems.

The role requires hands-on Java/Spring Boot microservices, NoSQL data stores, and production troubleshooting. Telework is possible after onboarding; onsite or hybrid work may be required during screening and initial ramp.

Competenze

• Active TS/SCI with Poly clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 12+ years of software engineering experience (16 years total with substitution).
• Proven hands-on experience developing Java/Spring Boot applications: RESTful APIs, microservices, DI, configuration management, production troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases, data modeling, querying, indexing, and integrating NoSQL stores with Spring Boot.

• Design, implement, and maintain Java/Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs for authentication, authorization, and middleware concerns.
• Model, query, and optimize NoSQL data stores and integrate with Spring Boot apps for low-latency workloads.
• Troubleshoot production issues across app, database, and integration layers; lead incident response and durable fixes.
• Contribute to system design decisions including hardware/software trade-offs and reuse vs. new development.
• Write and maintain automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment artifacts; collaborate with DevOps/infrastructure teams.
• Review code, produce design documentation, and mentor less-experienced engineers.
