Job summary

Insight Global in Raleigh, NC seeks a Principal Engineer, Reporting/BI to lead financial reporting and BI for an enterprise equity-management platform. This hands-on IC will design and optimize Oracle PL/SQL calculations and contribute C#/.NET functionality for data entry and report execution.

You will work with a global scrum team, apply AI-assisted tooling, and own complex features from design through release, with emphasis on accuracy, performance, and auditability.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of hands-on software engineering in SQL development, reporting, or BI in enterprise SaaS environments.

Insight Global is seeking a Principal Engineer, Reporting/BI for a top enterprise financial software client. This hands-on individual contributor will join a small global scrum team responsible for expanding the financial reporting and business intelligence capabilities of an enterprise equity-management platform supporting a strategic Fortune 100 engagement. The engineer will spend most of their time designing, writing, reviewing, and optimizing sophisticated Oracle PL/SQL calculations for historical reporting and forecasting, while also contributing C#/.NET functionality for data entry, report configuration, and execution. The ideal candidate combines advanced Oracle performance-tuning expertise, financial calculation experience, strong reporting and BI knowledge, and an AI-first engineering mindset. This is a highly visible, critical-priority opportunity offering ownership of complex features, direct participation in technical design, and the potential to convert following the initial 12-month contract.

• Own financial reporting and calculation features from requirements and Engineering Design Documents through implementation, validation, and release.
• Spend most development time writing, optimizing, maintaining, and reviewing production-quality Oracle PL/SQL and SQL.
• Design complex historical and forward-looking financial calculations while ensuring accuracy, traceability, and auditability.
• Analyze execution plans and optimize resource-intensive queries using indexing, materialized views, partitioning, and other Oracle performance patterns.
• Contribute C#/.NET application-tier and UI code supporting data entry, report parameters, configuration, and report execution.
• Build and maintain enterprise reporting solutions against Certent Equity Management data models using BI tools, including Logi Analytics.
• Validate calculations and report outputs across edge cases, historical restatements, and forecasting assumptions.
• Contribute to reporting data structures, query architecture, technical standards, and cross-team design decisions.
• Maintain strong engineering practices, including unit testing, code review, performance benchmarking, quality gates, and release readiness.
• Integrate agentic AI tooling into daily development, SQL authoring, review, and calculation-validation workflows.
• Work toward organizational adoption targets of at least 50% AI-authored pull requests and 95% AI-assisted code review using Claude Code.
• Partner with the Lead Engineer and Product Management to clarify, scope, and sequence reporting requirements.
• Engage client stakeholders as needed to understand business problems and advocate for reusable platform solutions rather than one-off customizations.
• Coordinate with matrixed QA engineers on test coverage and release quality.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects, Lead Engineers, and Principal Engineers across Reporting/BI Teams 1 and 2.
• Escalate delivery risks, technical blockers, and scope concerns early and clearly.

Skills and Requirements

Must-Haves

• 8 to 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a strong concentration in SQL development, reporting, or business intelligence within enterprise SaaS environments.
• Expert-level Oracle SQL and PL/SQL skills, including stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, views, and complex multi-join queries over large datasets.
• Proven experience designing complex financial calculation logic in PL/SQL for both historical reporting and forecasting.
• Strong production-scale Oracle performance-tuning experience, including execution-plan analysis, indexes, hints, and query optimization.
• Ability to diagnose and rebuild inefficient SQL operating against complex, hierarchical, non-flattened relational data models.
• Experience with enterprise BI or reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, Logi Analytics, or comparable platforms.
• Working knowledge of C# and .NET sufficient to develop UI and application-tier functionality for data entry, parameter configuration, and report execution.
• Experience validating data accuracy, calculation integrity, and auditability from source data through final reporting output.
• Hands-on experience with AI-enabled development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Devin.AI, or similar agentic tooling.
• Ability to independently own reporting and calculation features from requirements and technical design through implementation and release.
• Experience with Git-based source control and pull-request-based development.
• Strong client-facing communication skills, particularly when translating complex reporting requirements and technical constraints.
• Experience working effectively in global, distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Direct, hands-on experience with Logi Analytics, now Logi Symphony.
• Experience with Oracle read-optimization techniques, including materialized views, query rewrite, result cache, and analytical functions.
• Experience designing reporting data models and pre-aggregation strategies that reduce real-time database load.
• Background in financial services, equity compensation, or another regulated environment requiring highly accurate and auditable reporting.
• Familiarity with Azure data services and cloud-native reporting architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, preferably Azure DevOps.
• Advanced .NET Framework or .NET Core experience, including independently building reporting services and APIs.
• Experience with Datadog, Application Insights, or similar observability and monitoring tools.
• Experience working across multi-repository, multi-product platforms that share an Oracle database and internal package ecosystem.
