Job summary

DomainTools is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Infrastructure team in Boston. You will help design, build, and operate foundational internet-scale data systems used for threat defense and investigation across the company.

This high-impact role requires tenacity, creativity, and strong collaboration skills as we lead efforts spanning cloud and on-prem environments and drive observability, security, and scalable architecture.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software/hardware/systems engineering or technical leadership.
• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale orchestration systems.
• Familiarity with major internet protocols (DNS, Whois, RDAP).
• Experience in internet security space and threat intelligence focus.
• Ability to argue and defend architectural trade-offs at scale.
• Proven cross-organizational collaboration and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop a foundation for real-time internet-scale data processing.
• Create a platform for software and infrastructure management across cloud and on-prem.
• Develop observability tooling including logging, metrics, and alerting.
• Define technical standards and best practices as an engineering leader.
• Coordinate across multiple organizations to reconcile complex distributed architectures.
• Provide technical leadership across DomainTools.
