Job summary

Oracle Corporation in Seattle seeks an experienced Oracle Database Engineer/SRE to lead engineering and operational management for large-scale Oracle database fleets. You will drive 19c performance analysis, tuning, reliability improvements, and design secure, scalable architectures.

Responsibilities include building automation with Python/Shell, leading upgrades, capacity planning, incident response, and mentoring engineers across OCI teams to ensure resilient cloud services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6-8 years of Oracle Database Engineering, Administration, SRE experience.
• Deep expertise with Oracle 19c including RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, SQL optimization, performance diagnostics, and HA/DR design.
• Strong Python and/or Shell scripting experience for automation, diagnostics, monitoring, and operational tooling.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex database changes, upgrades, and reliability initiatives.
• Strong understanding of database security, observability, capacity planning, and cloud-scale operations.
• Proven technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English, critical thinking, and ability to operate effectively in a demanding environment. Leads platform projects crossing multiple teams, evolving runtimes or middleware patterns for interoperability and multi-tenant scale. Diagnoses and resolves complex cross-service issues; enforces versioning, compatibility, and safe rollout practices. Drives observability standards, capacity planning, and resilience patterns across several workloads. Produces migration guides and adoption playbooks that raise ecosystem consistency and developer experience.
