Job summary

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Principal Software Engineer – Mission Systems to support the design, development, integration, and testing of software that enables core mission capabilities within complex avionics architectures.

This role includes mission computing, data links, displays, navigation, and weapon systems software, delivering real-time functionality for aviation and defense platforms.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
8+ years of C/C++ development experience.
Experience in mission systems software architecture, including design, development, and integration.
C/C++ development for real-time embedded systems.
Ability to work onsite 100% and travel 10%.
Experience in integration and interoperability testing in lab and simulated environments.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, integrate, and test mission software for avionics.
Work in a multi-site, high-performing team with strong collaboration.
Support real-time operational functionality across platforms.
Coordinate with program teams and deployment authorities.
Prepare documentation and design artifacts.
