Job summary

OpenAI in San Francisco seeks an exceptionally experienced, hands‑on full‑stack engineer to define and build the next generation of AI‑powered enterprise workflows. You will take on the hardest problems, translate customer needs into product direction, and personally craft production‑quality code across the stack.

You will own technical direction and end‑to‑end delivery of products spanning ChatGPT Work surfaces, backend services, plugins, connectors, and data.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building production software.
• Experience across frontend, backend, APIs, and enterprise integrations.
• Translate customer needs into product direction with architectural decisions.
• Experience shipping AI or conversational products is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for enterprise AI experiences and ship core components across ChatGPT Work surfaces, services, plugins, and connectors.
• Turn ambiguous customer and design needs into a clear, generalisable product and technical strategy with milestones and measurable goals.
• Lead complex initiatives across design, research, GTM, security, and platform teams; align senior stakeholders and drive decisions to implementation.
• Architect production-grade systems with evaluation, instrumentation, security, reliability, and rollout/rollback standards.
• Own the complete product and engineering lifecycle from problem definition to sustained iteration.
• Define durable technical contracts across connectors, identity, enterprise data, and shared platform dependencies; mentor teams and raise the bar.
