Fidelity Investments in the United States is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer/Developer to design and implement large-scale Java microservices, APIs, and UI layers. You will lead architecture discussions, drive CI/CD automation, and build observable cloud-native solutions with AWS and Kubernetes.
The role requires deep experience in Java, Spring, Angular, and modern testing frameworks, with responsibility for project delivery, risk management, and cross-team collaboration in a
Designs and implements large-scale, distributed Spring Boot and Java microservices using Kafka and REST. Builds advanced Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and automation frameworks using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, containerized test environments to ensure consistent reliability across multiple applications. Implements cloud-native, security-focused, and highly observable architectures using AWS ECS/Fargate, KMS encryption, OpenTelemetry tracing, and resilient integration patterns including automated recovery workflows. Supports applications and provides software solutions to help ensure compliance and fiduciary responsibility. Builds and improves software and Web applications using Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Core, and Spring Boot. Develops User Interaction (UI) screens using HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, and Angular. Creates reusable templates using Angular directives and Node Package Manager (NPM) manager tools -- Node.js. Designs and executes automation test scripts using Junit. Automates unit test cases using Jest testing framework. Builds and maintains end-to-end testing using Cypress. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Participates in architecture design teams. Defines and implements application-level architecture. Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division. Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans. Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables. Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems. Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms. Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget. Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects. Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects. Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues. Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives. Advises senior management on technical strategy. Mentors junior team members. Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives. Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) implementing and supporting Web and desktop applications in full stack development with Java, Spring, and Angular languages in a financial services environment. Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) implementing and supporting Web and desktop applications in full stack development with Java, Spring, and Angular languages in a financial services environment.
Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and developing full stack Java-based multi-tier architectures, using Java, Angular, Spring Boot, Oracle, and testing frameworks (Cypress, Jest, and JUnit). DE designing and executing automation test scripts using JUnit; automating unit test cases using Jest testing frameworks; and building and maintaining end-to-end testing using Cypress. DE implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for enterprise applications using Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Maven, and Kubernetes automated application deployment flows. DE designing and implementing Cloud infrastructure practices for enterprise applications using AWS Cloud -- Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS) and Simple Storage Service (S3); supporting and monitoring application logs using AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, and Elastic search; and creating alerts and monitors using Datadog queries to proactively resolve application run time issues. #PE1M2 #LI-DNI
