Job summary

DTCC is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Tampa to lead modernization of enterprise platforms, enabling cloud-native and event-driven capabilities. You will shape engineering standards, drive scalable architectures, and deliver resilient services across critical DTCC platforms.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Product, Architecture, and DevOps, and help elevate platform performance, security, and developer productivity in a regulated financial services context.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with enterprise-scale applications.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale distributed systems in complex environments.
• Experience modernizing legacy/monolithic platforms and adopting cloud-native architectures.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native patterns, microservices, and modern software engineering principles.
• Experience in regulated, mission-critical enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Drive modernization by decomposing legacy applications and transitioning to distributed cloud-based solutions.
• Design and implement large-scale event-driven architectures leveraging Kafka and messaging tech.
• Build and support high-performance REST and SOAP APIs for secure client connectivity.
• Define architecture, standards, and modernization roadmaps across multiple initiatives.
• Lead architecture reviews, governance, and solution evaluations for scalability and resiliency.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence and best practices.
