Job summary

Index Engines is seeking a Distinguished Software Engineer to join the Platform team in a senior role. You will develop, maintain, and support Linux applications and act as a strategic advisor while hands‑on coding across multiple engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will guide architectural decisions, deliver robust solutions, and mentor cross‑functional groups while collaborating with product management to align on requirements and delivery plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong C and Python development on Linux.
• Experience with security, cryptography, OpenSSL, TLS.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and agile development.

Responsibilities

• Review specifications and design scalable, secure architectures.
• Write clean, production-quality code and participate in reviews.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize performance.
• Mentor teams and lead technical delivery across modules.
• Collaborate with Product Management to plan features.
• Provide technical leadership within Platform/CyberSense areas.

The Role

Index Engines has an outstanding career opportunity for a senior level Software Engineer. We are seeking an experienced Distinguished Software Engineer to join our Platform team. The ideal candidate will develop, maintain, and support software for the Index Engines’ Linux applications. In this role, you will act as a strategic advisor and hands‑on code builder. You will collaborate with multiple engineering teams to assess product technology needs, and design robust software architectures to deliver innovative, high‑impact solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Review functional specifications, create detailed design and technical architecture to help engineering teams create highly scalable, secure solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and production‑quality code; participate in code reviews, testing, and code deployment.
• Act as an independent team member who troubleshoots production issues, identifies system bottlenecks, and provides proactive recommendations for improvements.
• Guide and mentor cross‑functional teams, coordinate technical deliverables, and demonstrate ownership of technical solutions.
• Work with other Scrum team members to integrate and test software modules.
• Work with the support team to analyze and resolve customer impacting issues.
• Work with Product Management to review requirements and develop a feature delivery plan.
• Provide technical leadership within the assigned areas of the CyberSense product.
• Provide guidance, and pioneer team adoption to use the latest AI technologies

What You Bring

• Strong software development experience using C, Python on Linux.
• Proficient with Linux system hardening, and security
• Proficient with cryptographic algorithms, OpenSSL, and TLS
• Proficient with the development of data structures and algorithms that are both performance‑oriented and able to scale to manage large datasets.
• Practices Agile Development methodology.
Experienced using AI code generation tools like Claude.
• Enjoys working in a challenging and highly collaborative environment.
• Experienced working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
• Able to accommodate the time zone differences required to work with teams in Asia.
• Require minimal supervision and be able to operate in a matrixed organization.
• Desire to learn new technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Demonstrated experience with software development using C, Python.
• Experience in writing cryptographic algorithms, OpenSSL modules
• Experience within the administration of Linux environments.
• Experience with Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with data storage, backup software, and technologies.
• Experience with database management systems.
• Experience with cloud technologies.
• Knowledge of communication protocols.
• Familiarity with server hardware and networking.
