Ladders is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space, shaping the technical direction for next-generation AI capabilities in a regulated environment.

You will lead the design of scalable services across cloud platforms, collaborate with Security and Legal, and deliver responsible AI systems while mentoring engineers and driving high-performance architectures.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience across systems analysis, design, and engineering leadership.
• 7+ years with microservices architectures and scalable APIs.
• 5+ years leading large-scale, mission-critical applications with emphasis on security and performance.
• 5+ years cloud delivery on AWS and/or Google Cloud.
• 5+ years of DevOps and CI/CD automation.
• 3+ years of Generative AI and LLMs development.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of scalable AI services on AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI.
• Architect and implement RAG solutions integrating diverse data sources.
• Design multimodal input processing and secure service interfaces.
• Define reference architectures for multi-cloud AI development.
• Champion Responsible AI, including safety filters and compliance policies.
• Collaborate with Security and Legal for HIPAA compliance.
• Build observability frameworks and drive FinOps practices.
• Mentor engineering teams to elevate coding standards and learning culture.
• Monitor AI advancements and adapt platform strategy.

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space.

This role will shape the technical direction for next-generation AI capabilities within a complex, regulated healthcare environment. You will lead the design of scalable services and reference architectures that support secure, high-performing solutions across cloud platforms. The position partners closely with Security, Legal, and engineering stakeholders to deliver responsible, compliant, and operationally sound AI systems.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $144,200 - $288,400 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of scalable AI services using AWS Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI
