Job summary

Google is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer for Developer Intelligence to lead the architectural direction across Vertex AI, Cloud, and third-party agents. You will own multi-year technical outlook, ensure architectural cohesion, and drive engineering standards globally from New York City to the West Coast.

Designing unifying protocols and distributed layers, you will connect client tools, Cloud infra, and sandboxed runtimes capable of hosting first- and third-party agents.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Mentor senior engineers and promote knowledge sharing across Google Cloud.
• Collaborate with senior engineers across Vertex AI, DeepMind, and Cloud Security.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and optimizing industry-scale ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).

As the Senior Staff Engineer for Developer Intelligence, you will serve as the principal architectural authority across all three pillars. Similar to principal technical leadership at the broader AI Developer Tools (AIDT) organization level, you will own the multi-year technical outlook, architectural cohesion, and engineering standards for our entire engineering organization across New York City and the West Coast.

In this role, you will design the unifying protocols and distributed execution layers that connect client-side developer tools, Cloud infrastructure, autonomous code transformation pipelines, and sandboxed VM runtimes in Vertex AI capable of hosting first-party agents and third-party/custom agents.

The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges motivated by Google Cloud’s mission of bringing AI to tech, healthcare, finance, retail and many other industries. We work on a range of unique problems focused on research topics that maximize scientific and real-world impact, aiming to push the state-of-the-art in AI and share findings with the broader research community. We also collaborate with product teams to bring innovations to real-world impact that benefits our customers.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $262000 - $364000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits
