Job summary

Concord seeks a Principal Software Engineer to bridge business objectives with software solutions for North America’s renewable energy operations. You will own end-to-end architecture and drive product-aligned engineering with autonomy.

You’ll mentor engineers, lead design decisions, and apply AI-assisted development practices to deliver scalable, production-ready systems at scale.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of professional software engineering with system architecture ownership.
• Proficiency in Python, C#, JavaScript or similar languages.
• Cloud experience with Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Experience with AI-assisted/agentic development tools and practices.
• CI/CD and DevSecOps experience including secure-by-design concepts.
• Mentoring engineers and leading project teams.
• Experience communicating technical strategy to executives and stakeholders.

Job description

Location:St. Paul, MN or Juno Beach, FL are preferred, but open to other locations in the US.
Employment Type/Duration: 12-month contract. Possibility of extensions.
Compensation: $70/hr - $75/hr W2 or $75 - $85/hr C2C. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, and overall qualifications.

Join a team building the analytical and optimization software that powers one of North America's largest renewable energy operations. Our client is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to serve as the bridge between business objectives and software solutions.
This role is for someone who combines deep technical expertise with product thinking, business acumen, and architecture leadership, working with a high degree of autonomy to turn ambiguous business problems into scalable, production-ready systems. The role spans full-stack ownership (backend, data systems, UI) and includes active use of AI-assisted development practices as part of the org's broader investment in AI-enabled engineering.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Translate ambiguous business problems into technical solutions.

4. AI-Assisted Development

• Use agentic AI tools throughout software development.

5. DevSecOps and Reliability

• Secure-by-design development.
• CI/CD pipelines.
• Observability and monitoring.

6. Leadership

• Define system architecture.
• Guide software design.
• Serve as technical leads.
• Mentor less experienced engineers.
• Lead project teams.
• Influence technology decisions.

ExperienceandSkills

• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience, including demonstrated ownership of system architecture and technical leadership (not years alone — must show scope of ownership, not just tenure).
• Proficiency in one or more of: Python, C#, JavaScript, or otherlanguages.
• Cloud platform experience, including Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Experience with AI-assisted/agentic development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and practices.
• Experience with automation, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices (secure-by-design, observability, monitoring/alerting).
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading project teams (helpful but not required at the lower end of the experience range).
• Experience communicating technical strategy to executive/business stakeholders.
