What you'll do:

• Champion best practices and scalable architectural patterns, enabling engineers to drive adoption across the org for a maintainable and reliable codebase.
• Lead and drive large-scale technical initiatives, balancing short-term practical needs with long-term architectural vision while securing buy-in from engineers and leadership.
• Eliminate barriers to scale through technology and process and provide building blocks of world-class applications and services.
• Influence across disciplines, cross-functional teams, and leadership, effectively bridging technical and business considerations.
• Serve as a mentor and technical leader, fostering growth in engineers and raising the overall technical bar through coaching and shared expertise.

Skills you have:

• A relevant degree or equivalent work experience with 15+ years in software engineering.
• Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional initiatives, collaborating effectively with product, design, and engineering teams.
• Strong technical influence shapes engineering direction, defines quality standards, and drives best practices to ensure engineering excellence.
• Deep expertise in software design patterns, enabling the development of clean, well-structured, and idiomatic code that fully leverages modern programming language.
• Ability to architect and write scalable, efficient solutions using advanced algorithms and data structures, optimizing for various technical and business constraints.
• Expertise in test automation, observability, and debugging strategies to ensure software reliability and maintainability.
• Strong understanding of data engineering principles, ensuring effective data processing, storage, and scalability.
• Strong knowledge of security best practices, proactively addressing vulnerabilities and designing secure systems.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, drive problems from conception to resolution, and advocate for solutions with a strong sense of ownership.
• Ability to communicate difficult technical concepts in precise, concise, and unambiguous terms.

Who you are:

• Enjoy implementing robust engineering strategies, including best logging, tracing, and troubleshooting practices to improve observability and reliability.
• Will take ownership during critical incidents, working with on-call teams to diagnose and resolve complex production issues swiftly and effectively.
• A proven leader who identifies areas needing engineering direction and sees them through to impactful solutions.
• Can write clean, well-tested code in your sleep, with a test-first mindset.
• Very well-versed in Domain Driven Design.
• Enjoy working with other engineers in a collaborative and iterative environment.
• Communicate well with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following technologies: JVM-based languages, PHP, MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, NoSQL, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Elasticsearch.
