Avandra Imaging seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead hands-on technical work across engineering, product, and business to deliver secure, scalable systems. You will drive architectural direction, mentor engineers, and set high-quality standards across the stack.

This role requires a senior engineer who thrives in complex domains, influences through expertise, and elevates teams through mentorship and collaboration, while upholding a culture of curiosity and care.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience across multiple tech stacks with distributed systems expertise.
• Proven ability to operate as a technical leader—set direction and influence without authority.
• Strong foundation in software engineering best practices (CI/CD, observability, automated testing, IaC).
• Experience with cloud-native systems (AWS) including Docker/Kubernetes.
• Experience in a highly regulated environment, preferably healthcare (HIPAA).

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead the development of critical systems with focus on reliability, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Partner with product and program leaders to align engineering solutions with user needs and regulatory requirements.
• Set and evolve technical standards; address tech debt, guide code review quality, and improve team velocity.
• Coach and mentor engineers across teams to grow their craft and navigate ambiguity.
• Investigate and evaluate new technologies to drive innovation and scale.
• Contribute directly to codebases, especially for architectural foundations and high-risk areas.
• Act as a multiplier by unblocking teams and fostering collaboration without taking over.
• Uphold and strengthen engineering culture—curiosity, integrity, and high autonomy.
• Help recruit and onboard exceptional talent aligned with company values.
