MediaAlpha, a leader in customer acquisition solutions, seeks a Principal Software Engineer to own ecosystem architecture, set technical direction, and mentor engineers across multiple teams. You will drive standards, reduce technical debt, and lead high-impact projects with broad organizational influence.

The role blends hands-on engineering with strategic leadership, operating in a hybrid environment and collaborating with business leaders to align roadmaps with company goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development with ecosystem-wide scope.
• Proven ability to drive architecture across multiple teams and quarters.
• Experience defining architectural patterns and engineering standards.
• Mentoring engineers and guiding technical decision-making at multiple levels.
• Ability to shape broad architecture spanning organizational boundaries.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of database optimization.
• Excellent communication to explain strategy to engineers and business.

Responsibilities

• Own large, complex systems end to end with ecosystem-level accountability.
• Shape architecture and lead projects with multi-quarter strategic vision.
• Define and evangelize standards for architecture, code quality, and system design.
• Mentor senior technical leaders and guide cross-team decision-making.
