Medidata Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in a hybrid NJ/NY in-office role.

You will lead the long-term architectural evolution of the Study Experience and drive scalable, secure cloud-native software across multi-region deployments. You will collaborate with executives and product teams to translate high-level goals into technical roadmaps, mentor senior engineers, and champion best practices in observability, security, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, incl. 5+ years at Staff/Principal level.
• Experience delivering large-scale production systems with multi-region deployments.
• Ability to communicate technical strategy to executive leadership and align stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Direct the long-term technical evolution and architectural strategy for Study Experience.
• Architect and deploy distributed environments for high availability and cost-efficiency.
• Orchestrate engineering efforts across domains and enable cross-team integration.
• Establish foundational engineering benchmarks and shared infrastructure patterns.
• Manage architectural oversight, RFCs, and critical technical decisions.
• Drive innovation through AI/ML and edge computing; transition experiments to production.
• Consult with executives to translate goals into technical roadmaps and cost insights.
• Grow Senior and Staff engineers; elevate design philosophy and trade-offs.
• Champion operational excellence with SLOs, observability, and incident response.
