Job summary

Smartsheet is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Core Views to set the technical direction and deliver multi-quarter initiatives. You will own data movement between transactional stores and the data lakehouse, balancing latency, consistency, and cost while mentoring engineers across the company.

You will work with AWS and Kubernetes, and collaborate with Product, Data Platform, AI Platform, and Infrastructure teams to align roadmaps and engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building scalable, available, low-latency systems.
• Production-quality Java or Kotlin development across the stack.
• Experience with async distributed systems on cloud infrastructure.
• Ownership of large data systems and migrations with minimal customer impact.
• Experience shipping LLM-enriched workflows in real products.

Responsibilities

• Architect the Sheet Data Platform end-to-end for storage, tiering, and serving.
• Design services and APIs for real-time collaboration and AI agents at scale.
• Identify opportunities and risks across Core Views and related platforms.
• Plan and execute multi-quarter data migrations with zero/customer impact.
• Lead cross-team delivery with phased milestones and risk reporting.
