Job summary

MBO Partners seeks a senior software consultant to guide a medical device platform that blends hardware, software and user experience. You will assess the current architecture, identify gaps and risks, and recommend a scalable focus for future growth while remaining close to technical detail.

You’ll work with engineers, UI designers, clinical development and marketing teams, shaping architecture, improving performance and usability, and helping plan future team structure and capabilities.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software development experience.
• Experience as a software architect or senior technical leader.
• Strong background in medical device software or another regulated industry.
• Hands-on experience with C++, Linux, and Python.
• Embedded software experience.
• Experience working with UI designers or graphic designers.
• Background in hardware and software integration.
• Strong communication skills across teams.
• Comfortable contributing in a consulting role and getting into the weeds when needed.

Location: Remote; Ability to work hybrid in Irvine, CA preferred

Duration: long term (24+ months)

Expected Hours: 40 hours weekly

Pay range: $100- $150 Per hour

In this role, you will assess the current software architecture, identify gaps and scaling risks, and recommend where the team should focus its energy to support future growth. You’ll work alongside engineers, UI designers, clinical development, and marketing teams, and you’ll also collaborate with existing software resources to help shape a more scalable architecture and a stronger user experience.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• As a contractor, including remote contractors, you may be required to complete a background check.

As a contractor, you will be paid for the time you work; this does not include paid time off (PTO) or holidays. If you participate in our Payroll Services (W2) engagement, you may be eligible for Paid Sick Leave (PSL), depending on your work location and state‑specific regulations.
