Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a senior SIMS Laboratory Lead to establish and advance the Sherman SIMS lab. You will define capability requirements, select equipment, perform qualification, and ensure readiness for high-level materials analysis across semiconductor technologies.

You will lead complex analytical investigations, develop SIMS methods, and collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, and quality teams to drive data-driven improvements and technology adoption.

Qualifications

• Minimum 9 years of related experience with materials characterization and semiconductor processing.
• Experience with SIMS and/or TOF-SIMS and dopant profiling.
• Strong background in epitaxial growth and thin-film technologies.
• Familiarity with advanced analytical techniques (SEM, FIB, TEM, EDX, XPS, AFM).
• Ability to develop analytical models and perform data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead the establishment of Coherent Sherman’s SIMS laboratory, including facility requirements and qualification.
• Develop a strategic SIMS roadmap to support semiconductor, photonics, and optoelectronic tech.
• Perform SIMS workflow: sample prep, data acquisition, interpretation, reporting, and method development.
• Serve as site SME for SIMS, guiding manufacturing, R&D, quality and product eng teams.
• Define lab workflows, calibration methods, and maintenance plans for data integrity.
