Mantel seeks a Principal or Senior Process Engineer to join a promising startup working on molten salts as a novel CO2 sorbent. Responsibilities include working with engineers and EPCs to design, build, commission, and operate systems; process modeling; techno-economic analysis; equipment sizing and costing; and validation testing. The role involves process analysis, equipment specification, startup/shutdown procedures, and cross-disciplinary coordination. The ideal candidate is well-organized, versatile, innovative, and an effective communicator in a multidisciplinary environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
• 10+ years of experience in industrial boiler/plant design, operation, and maintenance
• Experience in PFD and P&ID development
• Field experience in industrial boiler/plant commissioning
• Strong background in safe plant operation, industrial safety, and process hazard analysis
• Understanding of engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and commissioning procedures

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with molten salts/metals or carbon capture systems
• Modeling of novel fluids in Aspen HYSYS
• Dynamic simulation experience
• Integration of plant systems and vendor designs
• Experience in two-phase fluid modeling
• Feasibility studies experience
• Good communication skills
• Experience working with external EPCs

Additional Details

Location: Remote/Hybrid or in-person (Cambridge, MA). Up to 50% travel possible.
