Position Overview
Principal / Senior Principal Software Engineer – McClellan, CA
- Relocation assistance may be available.
- Travel: Yes (10% of the time).
- Security clearance required at start: No. Clearance type: Interim Top Secret.
Responsibilities
- Synthesize software requirements into verification requirements, software test objectives, success criteria, and required resources for software and system level tests and demonstrations.
- Support development of software requirements and detailed integration software test plans, procedures, test readiness reviews (TRRs), test data, and test reports.
- Execute software qualification and acceptance testing per established requirements, plans, and procedures.
- Participate in internal and customer software test planning working groups.
- Design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment specific to software.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, software development engineers, and other stakeholders involved in the testing process.
- Review software test plans, procedures, and reports; witness testing as the Cognizant Engineer.
- Participate in technical exchange meetings, interface with customers (internal or external), and contribute to a broad range of program deliverables.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience, orMaster’s Degree and 3 years of related experience, orPh.D. and 1 year of related experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen; must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with SAP approval.
- Experience with the full software lifecycle (specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging, and maintenance).
- Experience leading Software Engineering teams, planning and executing technical scope, and supporting leadership planning.
- Experience with Agile development, Git (GitLab or Bitbucket), and cross‑functional Scrum teams.
- Proficiency in languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, and Docker.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deliverables Management experience.
- Experience with Software Testing Process and Software Test Planning.
- Hands‑on design, deployment, and dynamic management of containerized systems.
- Experience with Kubernetes (K8s, k3s) and cloud‑native OS environments.
- Experience with modern software factories and DevOps/DevSecOps practices.
- Familiarity with Atlassian and CI/CD tools (Bitbucket, JIRA, Jenkins, Confluence).
- Advanced scripting in Python, Linux Bash, and related languages.
- Linux/UNIX experience in production environments.
- Practical experience working in Agile and DevOps teams.
