Sr Principal Engineer Software – Integration & Test Engineer
Location: San Diego, California. Relocation assistance may be available. Travel required up to 10% of the time.
Job Summary
Responsible for integrating software components into a full system on host environments, working across development, lab, and operational environments. Coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines to diagnose and resolve integration issues, and creating documentation and test procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform software integration of multiple software components into a single system on the host environment.
- Work in development, lab, and operational environments, ensuring integration and testing of components in complex systems occur in the appropriate environment.
- Perform integration and troubleshooting of software components across multiple networks interfacing with customer SMEs, and create and maintain documentation to enable future integration.
- Facilitate collaboration with software developers, system engineers, hardware engineers, and integration/test engineers to diagnose and identify root causes of problems found during installation, integration, acceptance testing, and operational events.
- Use in-depth system knowledge to develop workable interim solutions that enable system capability while software or hardware changes are implemented, allowing testing and operational events to proceed.
- Develop and execute software installation, integration, and acceptance test procedures.
- Utilize familiarity with the full development life-cycle processes that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Apply leadership skills in coordinating with multiple teams and managing tasks.
- Develop clear and concise technical documentation.
- Submit detailed problem reports for errors found.
- Work in a hybrid of diverse assignments across all levels in a collaborative/team setting.
- Adapt to fast-paced, high-expectation environments with the ability to change as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR Master's degree and 6 years of experience; OR PhD and 4 years of experience.
- Experience with the full software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Experience in integrating and testing software and hardware components in Unix and Windows environments.
- Experience with formal software life-cycle development methodologies, from requirements through test.
- Ability to execute installation, integration, and acceptance testing activities.
- Must be able to obtain a Security+ certification.
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance (background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
- Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) prior to employment and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current applicable SAP access.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Excellent two-way communication skills (upward and downward).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to interface with all levels of employees and management, including briefing technical presentations to stakeholders.
- Familiarity with software network interfaces.
- Experience in automation of installation, configuration, and test.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and Agile Systems Engineering.
- Demonstrated communication and technical writing skills.
- Experience with Confluence and JIRA.
- Security+ certification.
- Experience with scripting languages (developing, debugging, and maintaining).
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret SCI clearance (background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
Salary Range
Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00; includes considerations of scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and Long-Term Incentives for senior positions.
