Overview

Principal/Senior Electrical Engineer – West Coast

A rapidly growing medical technology company committed to transforming diabetes care through innovative solutions is seeking a Principal/Senior Electrical Engineer for its West Coast operations with a mission to develop state-of-the-art devices that enhance glucose monitoring and insulin management.

Job Details

This role is ideally based onsite in Oregon (relocation assistance available for the right candidate). It could also be based remotely on the West Coast with an expected work pattern of once a month at the R&D office site, paid by the company.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and oversee manufacturing partners for all electrical hardware needed to run the CGM system in its embodiments (e.g., CGM infusion-set, patch pump or port).
• Collaborate with software engineering and sensor teams to make effective decisions on hardware architecture.
• Work with third parties on manufacturing and interact with team members across the organization to communicate work and interdependencies in regular meetings.
• Enhance the overall value of the CGM product by delivering robust and cost-effective designs for manufacturing electronic components and by identifying and resolving issues that advance CGM technology.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Work Experience & Education

• Technical Bachelor degree (Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or equivalent) with 6+ years of work experience; ideally at least 1 year with body-worn devices in medical devices or similar.
• Technical Master’s degree with 4+ years of proven experience; ideally at least 1 year with body-worn devices in medical devices or similar.
• Skilled at schematic capture and circuit board layout, preferably with OrCAD/Allegro.
• Ability to write system requirements and perform validation testing; ensure compliance with relevant electrical safety standards.
• Experience with writing and debugging Arm core processor firmware and collaborating with software and system engineers to identify and troubleshoot software bugs; familiarity with Nordic chip family is a plus.
• Experience managing third-party manufacturers to build CGM electronic devices and transitioning electronic products to high-rate production, including implementing changes to facilitate this.
• Knowledgeable in all aspects of amperometric sensor signal acquisition and conditioning.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language, and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of time if joining remotely.
