Job summary

Gen is seeking a Principal Engineer, Security Logging & Detection to lead the engineering, reliability, and evolution of our security telemetry platforms. You will shape strategy, mentor engineers, and drive scalable, secure data pipelines across global environments.

You will work closely with Security Operations, Incident Response, Infrastructure, and Product teams to ensure data integrity, availability, and actionable insights, leveraging AI where it adds value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive experience in Security Engineering, Platform Engineering, Logging, Observability, Detection Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Strong understanding of security logging architectures and telemetry pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner and architectural leader for Security Logging & Detection capabilities.
• Design, build, and improve logging pipelines across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
• Own the collection, parsing, normalization, enrichment, routing, retention, and access patterns for security telemetry.
• Ensure reliability, integrity, and availability of log data supporting threat detection and investigations.
• Drive automation and engineering best practices to improve scalability and platform reliability.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI-enabled tech to improve security workflows.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to improve telemetry coverage and detection capabilities.
• Define technical standards, documentation, and operational processes for resilience.
