  • Manages clinical biomarker data delivery and analysis and associated timelines with internal functions and CROs.
  • Prepares and delivers internal and external translational/biomarker presentations.
  • Maintains timelines for biomarker data-related publications with Medical Communications.
  • Keeps up-to-date on literature and acts as a subject-matter expert on asset and disease biology.
  • Works with TM laboratory scientists and academic TLs to address nonclinical translational questions.
  • Participates/leads post-hoc biomarker analysis and publication efforts.
  • Supports regulatory submissions and regulatory interactions as needed.
  • Participate in Diagnosis (PDx) biomarker assay development through collaboration with precision medicine group.

Translational Development at BMS

Translational Development is part of the Global Research organization in BMS and leads late stage clinical, pharmacological and translational research and development activities for the pipeline and supports late stage portfolio for regulatory, translational development and life cycle management. Translational Development drives strategy across core therapeutic areas at BMS including hematology, oncology, immunology, cardiovascular and neuroscience. This group integrates laboratory science, clinical trial/biomarkers and asset development as well as disease research to maximize the potential of BMS current and future therapeutics.

Incumbents with deep training and education in cardiovascular, or related disease areas, including but not limited to neurocardiac research.

Key Responsibilties
  • Designs and implements program-specific development biomarker/translational plans
  • Responsible for aiding in creation of clinical protocols, SAPs, SOWs, lab manual, and interfacing with CRO for execution of services, in conjunction with Biospecimen Operations and Procurement.
  • Determines appropriate assays and vendors for clinical biomarkers, and manages outsourcing of biomarker assay development and validation partnering with Translational Sciences colleagues when applicable
  • Manages clinical biomarker data delivery and analysis and associated timelines by working with relevant internal functions and CROs
  • Prepares and delivers internal and external translational/biomarker presentations
  • Maintains timelines for biomarker data related publication through interaction with Medical Communications and Publication team as needed
  • Keeps up-to-date on relevant scientific/technical literature in order to applying external knowledge to internal research programs as appropriate and acts as a subject-matter expert within the team to critically evaluate the literature regarding the asset and disease biology
  • Works with TM laboratory scientists and academic TLs to address nonclinical translational questions as needed
  • Participates/leads post-hoc biomarker analysis and publication efforts
  • Supports regulatory submissions and regulatory interactions as needed
  • Participate in Diagnosis (PDx) biomarker assay development through collaboration with precision medicine group
Skills/Knowledge Required
  • Expertise/knowledge in translational biomarkers in cardiovascular, or related disease areas.
  • Experience in drug development and activities required for and related to clinical trial initiation, maintenance and completion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in interacting with CROs and TLs to manage projects and timelines
  • Proven scientific/leadership expertise (working in teams, mentoring people, managing projects)
  • Accountable for timelines and deliverables
  • Prioritizes risks and implements contingency plans
  • Experience in mining datasets, in collaboration with bioinformaticians to understand MoA, disease pathophysiology or establish patient segmentation hypotheses
  • Communicates regularly; prepares and delivers presentations within the department, to governance and senior leadership bodies, and externally as requested
  • Recognizes cross-functional issues and communicates within the larger organization. Provides translational guidance to multi-disciplinary teams and senior management. Has a track record of delivering results, driving continuous improvements, and building effective cross-functional networks.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently and support multiple projects in a fast pace and collaborative environment.
  • Accurate and detailed record keeping, excellent organizational skills
Basic Qualifications
  • PhD with 4-8+ years of translational medicine/clinical biomarker experience
  • 2+ years of early or late-stage clinical biomarker experience in biotech/pharma preferred

Candidate must be a rigorous, detail-oriented scientist, with excellent leadership and organizational skills. Must be a flexible, results oriented, independent self-starter who enjoys working in a fastpaced dynamic matrix environment.

Compensation Overview

Brisbane - CA - US $159,290 - $193,022 Cambridge Crossing $159,290 - $193,022 Princeton - NJ - US $138,520 - $167,849

The starting pay range(s) listed above is for full-time employees (FTE). You may also be eligible for additional discretionary incentive cash and stock opportunities. We determine starting pay thoughtfully – carefully considering the nature of the role, required skills, work location, schedule and the knowledge and experience you bring. Final compensation is guided by pay equity principles and applicable employment laws. Compensation programs are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted over time to reflect evolving market factors, and individual, team or Company performance.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, you may be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefit plans – including wellbeing support, retirement and financial protection benefits, and insurance offerings (medical, dental, vision, life and disability).

U.S.-based exempt employees are eligible for Flexible Time Off (FTO), which provides paid time off without a set accrual limit, subject to manager approval, along with 11 paid company holidays each year.

Non-exempt employees, RayzeBio employees, and employees located in Puerto Rico receive 160 hours of paid vacation annually for new hires (subject to manager approval), 11 paid company holidays, and 3 optional holidays.

Depending on eligibility, employees may also have access to additional time-off benefits, including paid sick leave, up to two paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, and leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, or military needs. Eligible employees also enjoy an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
