Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. seeks a Principal Applied Scientist to define the science agenda for Agentic WorkSpaces and guide a multi-team portfolio across Personal, Applications, and Core surfaces.

You will set strategy, build evaluation baselines, and advance secure agent-human collaboration at enterprise scale. You will lead initiatives on agent perception, learning, and reliability while mentoring senior scientists.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master with strong applied research experience.
• 10+ years in applied science, including 8+ years applying ML to real-world products at scale.
• Experience setting research direction across multiple teams and orgs.
• Deep expertise in modern ML, including LLMs, evaluation methodology, experimental design.
• Track record delivering complex, ambiguous research initiatives from concept to production in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term scientific vision for Agentic WorkSpaces and multi-year research roadmap.
• Frame and deliver solutions to foundational challenges in agent perception, reasoning, evaluation, reliability, and human-AI collaboration.
• Build benchmarks, datasets, and metrics to quantify agent and team performance across enterprise workflows.
• Collaborate across partner teams to shape model and agent framework applications and ensure coherent system behavior.
• Translate research into measurable business impact: accuracy, cost, productivity, and enterprise trust.
