Job Description

Boston Engineering is seeking an experienced Principal Robotics Software Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Develop solutions from the specification phase through final delivery and acceptance testing.
• Approach designs from a system perspective.
• Lead the software development of complex robotics systems.
• Research and quickly learn new technologies.

• Experience as a software systems engineer on complex robotics projects.
• Contributions to open source software.
• Localization algorithms, Behavior Trees, Path Planning for mobile robots and arm manipulation, Simulation environments such as Gazebo.

Reports to: Director, Software Engineering

Location: Hybrid in Waltham, MA

Qualifications

Do you have these qualifications?

• Eight to twelve plus years of experience.
• Bachelor's or higher degree in computer science.
• Expertise in Robotics (ROS2).
• Expertise in software systems architecture and design.
• Comfortable acting in a customer-facing role.
• Experience with Linux.
• Fluency in technical oversight, mentoring, and review of project work efforts from junior-level engineering personnel.
• Ability to oversee and conduct project design reviews, identify project risks, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Expertise using Git.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• No relocation required.
